Happy Halloween!

Nothing like a timely Halloween post, right? How would that be? I actually took these photos last week, and getting them on this week is a feat within itself.

The Hulk had a headpiece, but I think Dad made it "conveniently" disappear - though he'd never admit it. That, or it just got lost on Dad's watch. Either way, no loss really - it was kind of weird looking.

Anyhow . . . apparently, Spider-man would win in a wrestling match (while Spider-man was trying to help get a good photo).

The Hulk likes dirt

Spider-man practicing his web-shooting abilities. Guy does a lot of that as soon as the costume (or even just the mask) is on.

We went trick or treating with a girl Rob works with and her family. She's got a little girl that is two months younger than Guy and they play really well together. I tried getting some shots that night of Spider-man and the cute little lady bug, but it just wasn't working for me.

Our Cowboy

I wanted Guy to be Zorro for Halloween (fitting, right?), but nobody makes that distinctive round hat in his little size. So, another year . . .
Rob found the above photo online, and we liked it, but decided to make a few motifications. Right now Guy's favorite animal is a horse. So, I whipped out my paper mache skills--in second grade I won 2nd place and $25 to an art store for making a paper mache squid. These skills haven't been honed since then, but I think my horse head turned out okay (free handing it). It took a lot of work, and I've now decided it's going to be Guy's costume for the next 10 years. I don't think I'll ever spend so much time on a costume for a one year old again, but it did work out well and he had a good time. The morning he saw it all put together, he couldn't stop neighing.

Oh, and I had the extra jeans and fake boots for him too, but the costume just got too heavy for him, so maybe another year. Really, it won't be his costume for years on end, but I will reuse it--whenever it is that we move next, the horse head is coming, we'll just make it a new box. :)

Pumpkin Patch

Saturday was a busy busy day, and we didn't even go Trick or Treating. We did, however, visit a pumpkin patch and then buy a new car. Yea! It's actually a nice looking Chevy S10 SS truck. Rob found it on KSL so we are now a two car and one motorcycle family. Yea for that second car in the winter, what a difference it will make. More costumes photos to come later. . .

More Halloween

Yesterday we spent the afternoon in Park City. I love people watching (and the streets were FULL of dressed up people and dogs), and even enjoyed a little window shopping.

When we got there we met my folks at Nathan Sawaya's lego sculpture exhibit at the Kimball Art Center. His site has better photos of his work, but this gives you a bit of an idea of what we saw. I really enjoyed it. It's a bit of a small exhibit, but still enjoyable. I like seeing it, but am glad we planned to do some other things while we were in Park City.

My friend Maddie loaned me an adorable lion costume for Guy to wear - I thought about making one, but after reading the sewing directions decided not to spend 10 hours gluing ribbon onto a headpiece for a mane that I was sure Guy would quickly destroy while wearing. Thanks Maddie!

Happy Halloween!

There will be more to come after we go up to Park City today. I'm excited to enjoy the festivities up there, and to also visit the Kimball Art Center for Nathan Sawaya's lego exhibit. Yea!
