6 weeks left

Here I am at 34 weeks--happy to be done pretty soon. Last week the Dr. said I could go a week early (plan an induction), however, if I do that, then the baby and Guy will be 2 days apart. I think I'd prefer to keep their birthdays a week (or more) apart, if I can help it. If I can't, that's fine, but I wouldn't choose it. Honestly, I'm kind of hoping for a Valentine's Day baby. Not to be cheesy, but because I'd like to have something else to celebrate on the over-rated, commercialized day. If it was a girl coming, I wouldn't wish it on her, but I don't think it would matter to a boy . . .

Aside from the birthday thing, I'd be a little hesitant to get an induction anyhow, what I hear about them isn't so great. Any words of wisdom in that regard (natural labor v. induction)? Last time my water broke.

Looking cute! Sorry it's been a tough one for you -- that's no fun.

I would go natural if I were you. I've been induced late, induced early, and gone natural and natural is by far the best. Even when natural is "late." After that I'd choose induced late, but I'll never again opt for being induced early.

Good luck -- so close!

I have had to be induced every time (except my last which was a c-section). I would definitely think that going natural is the way to go unless you go over. Hopefully your water will just break again!

Good luck with whatever decision you make! You look great!

With Sam, my water broke at 37 weeks. Things progressed very quickly. With Ellen, I was induced a week early. I had Group B strep, was already at 6cm and wasn't having ANY contractions. Because I deliver SO fast, the doc was afraid I'd have the baby at home. So, we induced. To be honest, Pitocin (the hormone they use to induce labor) didn't have any effect on me. It wasn't until my OB broke my water that anything happened. Once my water broke and labor actually started, I had her in 1.5 hours.

I'd opt for natural. From what I'm told, if Pitocin IS effective, it can be very painful. It is often administered in a pattern a little more intense than your own body would produce which makes labor more difficult. Also, if your body isn't really ready for labor, you might stall, which just can't be fun. I'd try stripping your membranes in office first to see if that doesn't get things started for you.

I wouldn't worry about an induction unless you go over. If things went well with Guy, then they will most likely go well with this one too. I wouldn't do an induction just for convenience, especially since it doesn't seem that convenient for you anyway.

Absofreakinlutely no reason to induce. I was forced to b/c I went 2 wks. late and it is no fun. I don't understand this obsession with scheduling births. Baby knows when to come. Don't mess with nature if it's working fine.

Caitlin you look amazing! If I looked that cute pregnant I might think of having another one :)

I was induced with my first because my water broke on its own (2 days before due date) and I simply didn't dialate. Obviously I've never done it naturally before, but in opinion Pitocin is the absolute devil. When the doc explained to me how it works he told me that basically it throws your body into transitional contractions. So those contractions you have for the last twenty minutes, so you can actually push the baby out, you have them, the WHOLE FREAKING TIME, rather than having the natural build that your body does on its own. As I said, no fun and very hard on the body. So, I don't recommend it, my I am glad it is available when needed.

Looking good! I don't have any experience with being induced since I can't be. I will say that I'm grateful for that. Good luck with however you decide!
